Condit has won only one of his last five fights, so a win over Oliveira is crucial for his career. The former interim UFC Welterweight champion works best when he is fighting from range where he able to utilize his diverse striking repertoire to wear his opponents down and finish them. He will need to bring the same approach to Oliveira while also ensuring he defends the Brazilian’s strikes, as Oliveira has repeatedly displayed KO power in the past.

Although Condit has not grappled much throughout his time in the UFC, he does possess a strong ground game, having won a number of fights via submission in his pre-UFC career. Condit may have a better chance of winning by taking Oliveira to the ground and submitting him, as Oliveira has previously shown a weakness in this area.

Oliveira’s ‘balls-to- the-wall’ style of fighting has largely been effective as well as entertaining, but it also leaves him prone to being hit. This style will likely be problematic against Condit, who has proven himself to be a deadly counter striker who is able to withstand pressure from his opponents.

The Brazilian can still use that style against Condit, but needs to be efficient with his energy in doing so to ensure that he doesn’t gas out and let Condit take over the fight.

Condit vs. Oliveira prediction

This welterweight contest is a hard one to predict, given the late notice. Last time out The Natural Born Killer was put through his paces by Niel Magny which we believe will be motivation enough to see him win this time out. We’re not expecting a tour de force from Condit, more so him playing it safe to nullify Oliveira’s offence. Our tip is Condit to get back in the win column by taking a unanimous decision from the judges’ scorecards.
