Timing had a big part to play in this saga. For Joshua, the golden boy of British heavyweight boxing, this is his ticket to the big time. A win over Kiwi Parker will elevate him to the rank of international superstar and edge him closer to breaking America (and the big money). Consider this a warm-up to a possible trilogy with Deontay Wilder, who currently occupies the fifth heavyweight title, the only belt not on the line in this fight. Taking on Wilder now would rush the dream and naturally open up a chasm between him and fighters of lower stead, Parker included. This is effectively Parker’s one and only shot of a sizeable payday whilst AJ is still fighting on British shores – a shrewd move from his management.
Meanwhile, Tyson Fury, lurking in the shadows of social media is primed for a comeback in 2018. The former champion, who has also scalped Klitschko, will be keen to coax Joshua into a super fight before the likes of Wilder, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Before the speculation can start, AJ has to conquer the New Zealand man mountain in March.
Anthony Joshua Form and Fight Record
Not even a blip of the boy’s record. AJ is 20-0-0, each of those wins recorded via KO/TKO. Few boxers in the sport competing at this level can boast of a triumphant run like the champ has. Joshua fought twice last year, defeating the problematic Takam with ease, whilst also delivering a fight of the year performance by toppling Klitschko. It was the latter boxing bout that put AJ on the map, and now a household name, the pressure is on for him to host another high impact night of boxing entertainment in Cardiff. He is both physically and mentally equipped to do so.

Joseph Parker Form and Fight Record
The giant Kiwi didn’t exactly set the world alight in his last outing against British based heavyweight Hughie Fury. Many fans had this fight as a 50-50 and it could be argued that the challenger threw away needless chances. A win is still a win, and Parker has been racking them up with aplomb in the build-up to this fight with Joshua. Surprisingly, for a man with a reputation built on knocking people out, he hasn’t managed to finish a fight in this fashion since defeating Dimitrenko in October 2016. Has the big man still got the firepower or will he be clinging on for a points decision?

Anthony Joshua vs Joseph Parker Prediction
First, to Parker’s chances against in this heavyweight contest: he is no pushover, and although a slower mover than AJ he can bang just as hard. The New Zealander has an astonishing 75% knockout success rate. If he lands during the fight, which he most certainly will, he has every chance of making a go of this.
Even at 6,6in Joshua can cut a static target in the ring and leaves gaps for his opponents to reach in and land. This was most evident during the Klitschko fight when both boxers enjoyed stints of dominance, back and forth.
Joshua is entering the prime of his boxing career. We are tipping him to step through the gears against Parkers and bet that at some point, during an exchange, those heavy hands will be too much for the relatively untested challenger to handle. If the Brit can utilise his reach with consistent jabs and avoid the clinch, he stands to wear down Parker and set himself up for a big finish late on.
We’re opting for several outcomes for this boxing fight. Our first prediction is for Joshua to win outright – the inexperienced Parker will struggle living up to the moment. We’re also tipping AJ to finish the fight inside 12 rounds, which going on current form, that won’t be a problem. Finally, we are tipping the fight to end by KO/TKO on account of the game plan Joshua will be adopting. Good luck with your stakes!
