Brunson vs. Adesanya Betting Tips and Markets
The big man from New Zealand is favourite with the bookmakers to make mince meat of Brunson according to the available odds. 7/2 for Adesanya outright is the general consensus online, which offers little by way of return for a single stake.
In contrast, backing Brunson to win gives wider odds of 5/2, which in UFC betting terms translates to high risk. Brunson is a solid fighter, but the betting gods aren’t on his side on this occasion.
Derek Brunson to win outright
Brunson has a solid MMA resume, with wins over Lyoto Machida, Uriah Hall and Lorenz Larkin among the best of his 18 career wins. A powerful, perhaps underrated striker, seven of Brunson’s eight UFC victories come in the first round, with all but one of those coming via TKO/KO.
Brunson is also a solid wrestler, and he will need to showcase this if he is to beat Adesanya, whose striking is amongst the best in the UFC. We believe Brunson will at least aim to take the New Zealander down, and if he does he stands a great chance of winning the fight.
Israel Adesanya to win outright
Adesanya proved all of the naysayers wrong in his last outing when he dominated top ten fighter Brad Tavares in a unanimous decision victory. He will now aim to prove that the victory was no fluke as he fights another top ten fighter in Brunson.
The former kickboxing standout needs to use his length and diverse striking repertoire to attack Brunson from distance and stop him from getting up close and hitting Adesanya with one of his thunderous punches. Should Adesanya be effective in doing that, he should be able to come away with a win and keep his undefeated MMA record intact.
Adesanya to win by TKO/KO
With 12 out his 14 MMA wins coming via TKO/KO, it’s no surprise that the man known as the Last Stylebender has quickly become a fan favourite. However, Adesanya’s last two wins have come via decision, a sign that he is a mature fighter who is willing to strategize and pace himself in order to come out on top.
Brunson has shown himself to be to be susceptible to strikes, though, given that four of his six losses have come via TKO/KO. Because of this, a bet on Adesanya to take this victory via TKO/KO might be one that yields a nice payday for the punter.
Fight to go the distance
It’s no secret that both Brunson and Adesanya don’t like going to the judges, with only eight of 38 fights between them going to a decision. As previously stated, however, Adesanya’s last two fights have gone to the judges, so there’s a slight chance this one could also go the full three rounds if he uses a similar approach.
However, it would take a bold person to place a bet on this fight going the distance, given the desire
of these two men to strike and their high finishing rates.
Fight Prediction – Adesanya via KO/TKO
Despite his solid MMA game, Brunson’s weaknesses play well into Adesanya’s strengths, and that will make all the difference in this fight as the New Zealander will land some clean shots on Brunson and get the early TKO/KO victory.
