Daniel Jacobs vs. Maciej Sulecki Fight Preview and Prediction

Matchroom Boxing and Sky Sports are delivering a triple bill of boxing this weekend in Brooklyn, New York. The main event card sees Daniel Jacobs (33-2, 29 KO) and Maciej Sulecki (26-0, 10 KO) go toe-to-toe in the middleweight division.

Jacobs is favourite by a country mile to leave the Braclays Centre arena with the win according to he bookmakers. We give them our full backing a predict the American to knock ten belles out of Sulecki and get the job done inside 12 rounds.

This is an interesting moment in the career of Daniel Jacobs and one which his middleweight peers will be drawn in to observe. Last week we saw Charlo put on a masterclass against Hugo Centeno to announce himself as a 160 lbs specialist, and with just over a week to go we’ll find out how GGG fares against late stand-in Vanes Martirosyan. The former has himself an interim belt to show for his win; the latter is putting all the silverware on the line (and likely to retain all belts).

Even though Charlo has earned a mandatory title challenge, Jacobs could also be in line to step in with Golovkin depending on what kind of performance he brings on April 28th. We’re itching for him to grab the mic and call out the champ. We’re among the minority that believe Jacobs pipped Golovkin to a split decision win in their fight last year. A rematch would be nothing short of spectacular.

Daniel Jacobs recent form and fight record

New York has been kind to Daniel Jacobs. He has appeared at this venue five time previously and won each bout convincingly. Aside from his unanimous points victory against Luis Arias and a controversial loss to Gennady Golovkin, Jacobs has proved he is in the business of stopping his opponents early on. He has put together a string of nine consecutive TKO finishes and forced two opponents to retire. We expect this match-up against Sulecki to end the same way.

Maciej Sulecki recent form and fight record

The undefeated Sulecki has lived a sheltered career when compared to Jacobs. The majority of his fights has been staged in his native home of Poland against opponents of a lower calibre and to a smaller crowd. A headline fight in the limelight of the Barclays Centre will tell us what we need to know about Sulecki’s hunger for a spot amongst middleweight’s elite fighters. As a competent knockout artist and an athlete who can go the distance, he will not scare easily.

Daniel Jacobs vs. Maciej Sulecki prediction

It has to be Jacobs. Sulecki may be an undefeated fighter in the eyes of the boxing board of control but he is stepping into a world that he knows very little about in facing Jacobs. The American is a slick mover and possessing immense power. Sulecki’s chances won’t be helped either with him previously knocking around at 154 lbs. Charlo made moving up in weight and winning look simple. Can Sulecki do the same this weekend? Our gut feeling is a resounding no. Jacobs to win by TKO in the late rounds.
