There has not been any official word on whether boxing great Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather will make a move to MMA. However, rumours of a potential future MMA fight with Conor McGregor have led some betting agencies to release odds on a McGregor vs. Mayweather UFC bout.
Unsurprisingly, McGregor is the overwhelming favourite to beat Mayweather in an MMA bout, with Bovada and Westgate having McGregor’s odds at -900 and -1000 respectively. That means that to win $1 on a McGregor win, punters must bet $9 with Bovada and $10 with Westgate.
Betters in Australia must bet even more on the Irishman if they are to get a return, with punters needing to bet AUD$20 on Sportsbet to win $1.
For those brave enough to put a bet on Mayweather to win what would be his MMA debut, the returns are a lot more generous. Those who put $1 on Mayweather on Westgate stand to receive $6.50 if he were to win against McGregor.
Those who bet $1 on a Money Mayweather win on Sportsbet will win AUD$8.50 if he wins the fight, should it occur before the end of this year.
McGregor and Mayweather famously faced off against each other on August 26 last year in a boxing bout that was billed as “The Biggest Fight in Combat Sports History”. McGregor, who was making his professional boxing debut, was a massive underdog in the match while Mayweather, who boasted a 49 0 record going into the fight, was the favourite.
Mayweather defeated McGregor by TKO in the 10th round.
