Saul Alvarez, aka “Canelo” is one of Mexico’s most prolific modern day fighters. His record of 49 wins is a testament to his supremacy inside the ring throughout a colourful, and enigmatic career. Canelo Alvarez vs Gennady Golovkin 2 Tips & Prediction

Anything can happen in Vegas. Last time out we put forward two possible outcomes: for Canelo to win, he must bring it to GGG early on, steer the direction of the fight in his favour by controlling a fast tempo; and we also considered that if this plan fell through then GGG would take the fight on points. Adalaide Byrd robbed us of the second scenario coming true, having volunteered an embarrassing assessment of rounds scored in Canelo’s favour. But, that’s what happens in Vegas, so we’ll let it go.

“This is terrible for sport, for boxing,” Golovkin said. “You know, I’m a champion. This is biggest fight for boxing. If these judges, you know, like today — this is terrible. Unbelievable. Unbelievable… I’m a fighter, I’m a boxer. You know, If second fight the same, for me it’s not my problem, you know. I come into boxing, I come into ring. [Scoring the fight] is not my job. My job only in ring.” – Golovkin

For Canelo Alvarez vs Gennedy Golovkin 2 we are sticking to our guns. Canelo knows he need to puncture the onslaught of GGG, who in-turn recognises the importance of doing more in the infantile rounds to wear down his Mexican counterpart quicker.

“I’ve seen it like 10 times, I think I made it a big fight. I won the fight by two points… I think that to making it more convincing I just have to throw more punches and nothing else. We are planning to concentrate before the fight in the mountains of Colorado to get in the best condition.” – Canelo Alvarez

To that end, we envision a lively encounter with the possibility of a knockdown throughout the fight. GGG remains our favourite to win, we’re tipping him – in conjunction with the oddsmakers – to retain his titles.
